Authentication via messenger (WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber) is the fastest and most convenient authorization process for your service by sending a code in any messenger that is currently used by the vast majority of smartphone owners. In this case, the user does not need to fill in any data; authorization is simplified to a few taps on the screen.
Your customer must enter a phone number when logging in and copy the code provided to them. Then he selects the messenger he is registered in and enters the received code. Thus, authorization is quick and without the need to fill out long forms.
This method has its advantages:
- Convenience: There is no need to remember passwords or enter them every time.
- Security: Messengers provide an additional level of protection.
- Speed: The authorization process takes only a few seconds.
- New: The impressive thing about this feature is that it is fairly unused and is just beginning to be distributed, which gives users a pleasant experience using it.
There are fewer disadvantages:
- The user will need an account in one of the messengers: If the user does not have an account in the selected messenger, he will have to create one or choose another authorization method.
Authorization via messengers also compares favorably with sending an SMS code for authorization:
- Free: Sending SMS codes may incur additional costs for the user. Some mobile operators charge a fee for sending and receiving messages. At the same time, sending a message via messenger will not require additional costs.
- Fast: SMS codes can be delayed due to network issues or other factors. Authentication via messengers is usually instantaneous.
- Safe: SMS codes can be intercepted by attackers, especially if the user's SIM card is stolen. Messengers provide an additional level of protection.
In general, authorization and registration via messengers can be considered a convenient and quick way to access various services. The feature is quite new, so it is now able to surprise service customers. But don't leave this type of authorization the only one for customers. It is important to take into account registration statistics and analyze them. It would be more correct to let users choose their own authorization method, giving them several options.
